Education

Whether you call it religious education, religious exploration or just RE, we have an amazingly rich variety of programs available year round! The African proverb "It takes a whole village to raise a child" summarizes our prevailing attitudes about religious education. We teach children, from toddlers to high schoolers, to esteem themselves and others, to value the beliefs and practices of the world's religions—including Unitarian and Universalist heritage—and to become socially responsible citizens who participate in projects that build upon awareness of the needs of others.

We also offer a rich variety of adult programs to foster the spiritual and personal growth and learning of all members of our congregations. Through religious education, we offer youth and adults not a narrow doctrine but a foundation that will help them make wise decisions about their own beliefs and values. We also provide a safe and nurturing place to exercise those beliefs.
"Critical Thinking is the careful, deliberate determination of whether one should accept, reject, or suspend judgment about a claim and the degree of confidence with which one accepts or rejects it." ~ Critical Thinking, by Parker and Moore

Affirming the inherent worth and dignity of every person.

Unitarian Universalists founded their first San Diego church in 1873. Since then our congregations have actively promoted personal freedom and social justice. Our caring communities throughout San Diego County welcome and support you in your spiritual journey.
