When she told Rev. Kathleen Owens at First UU Church of San Diego about her work, Rev. Owens asked her to consider mounting the exhibit in at First Church in Bard Hall. It fit in with the First UU's ongoing mission to become more aware of the microaggressions and macroaggressions people of color experience in our congregation and in our faith. Alison decided to use the storyboards and some art pieces to create a show sharing her experience of racism within her job as a religious educator and within UUism.
When Alison Aguilar Lopez Gutierrez McLeod was asked to write the story of her experiences as a professional of color by the Commission on Institutional Change at the UUA, she discovered it wasn't a simple matter of putting pen to paper and writing about a particular incident. She found herself writing and drawing out numerous storyboards, each one more detailed than the last. "This is an art show," she finally decided.

More About "Intent" vs. "Impact:" While driving your car, if you hit a pedestrian, and injured or killed them, you surely didn't "intend" to cause harm. But, you did and the impact on the pedestrian far exceeds your intent or sorrow.
