On Saturday, October 18th an enthusiastic, sold-out crowd enjoyed the heartfelt and funny music of Minnesota singer-song writer Peter Mayer. The evening began with a Mayer-led audience rendition of "Happy Birthday" for the clearly thrilled Naomi, a newly eleven-year-old in attendance. Mayer then led us through an evening of harmonic wonders interspersing brand new (unreleased even) songs like "Turn Me Into The Light of Morning" and the hilarious "Head of the Shed" with old favorites including "Holy Now" and "God is a River". He indulged audience members in several requests like the funny "Driving with My Knee" while being sure to majestically deliver his venerable anthem "Blue Boat Home". He taught us how to make pickles with his interactive "Hot Pickles" and the show even blazed with Halloween spirit when Mayer did "Jack's Farm", a look at the life choices of a jack-o-lantern. Mayer's warmth and candor embraced the audience, accompanied by Stuart's excellent audio work and skilled on-the-fly lighting design. A standing ovation brought Mayer back for a final song, "Japanese Bowl" (off his most recent CD). Many people stayed during the break and afterwards to meet Peter and personally thank him for his music. Learn more and listen to or buy Peter Mayer's music at www.petermayer.net.
